In about 1200 AD, the church of St. Peter was built upon “Church Hill”. From that point on, the city of Mülheim developed around it. Today, the historic Old Town, with its picturesque little streets, beautiful half-timbered houses built in the style of “Bergisches Land”, and numerous unique pubs and restaurants, combine to create a truly outstanding atmosphere. The museum of local history in the “Tersteegenhaus” (temporarily closed due to reconstruction) offers fascinating insights into Mülheim’s past.
