The old post office now houses the city Art Museum. Here, you can find an outstanding collection of pieces by the Nobel Prize winner Ziegler, alongside works by Feininger, Klee, Marc and Macke among many others. The museum also displays graphic art from Beckmann to Zille. The permanent exhibitions are complemented by various temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. The museum is one of the 20 “RuhrKunstMuseen”.
Due to a comprehensive renovation the art museum is closed from 17th September 2018. The "TEMPORARY Art Museum" can be found on Schloßstraße 28-32!
