The Bismarck Tower was opened in 1909 on the birthday of its namesake, Otto von Bismarck. It is one of the last remaining observation towers in the Ruhr Valley. Who climbs it, is rewarded with a magnificent panorama: over the Mülheimer City to Duisburg and Oberhausen on the western horizon. The view to the south is quite different: Here you can see the green Ruhr Valley with its rural districts Saarn and Mintard. Today the tower is "KULTURort". The ground floor houses a local artist’s studio. The sculptor Jochen Leyendecker has set up his studio in the basement. Visitors are invited to watch him at work.
