Broich Castle was built in 883-884 as a stronghold against the Normans and is the most important Carolingian fortification in German-speaking Europe. Nowadays, it houses a small history museum and serves a number of public functions. The castle courtyard is also a popular location for weddings, concerts and other events.
Due to renovation works until 30th September 2019 a visit to the castle courtyard is not possible as well as the historical museum is closed until then!
